Tasting Notes
Vinous 93
The 2016 Le Gay has a clean, fresh, slightly gravel-tinged bouquet with ample black fruit, conveying a sense of refinement. The palate is medium-bodied, with soft tannins, a fine bead of acidity, dark berry fruit and a touch of black pepper on the finish. Very fine, and it improves after 20 minutes in the glass, gaining more precision. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting and at Bordeaux Index s 10-Year-On.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2047
Robert Parker 95+
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Le Gay has a rock star nose of flamboyant Black Forest cake, crushed redcurrants and lilacs scents with underlying nuances of yeast extract, wood smoke, iron ore and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, the palate truly struts its stuff with generous black and red fruits and a fantastic line of super ripe tannins, building to a very long, seductively perfumed finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2045
