Tasting Notes
Vinous 92
The 2020 Baron de Brane is a heady, exuberant wine. Dark red/purplish fruit, mocha, chocolate, lavender, spice and new leather are all beautifully delineated. Fine tannins, lifted aromatics and succulent fruit are all very nicely balanced. The 2020 is quite flashy yet retains a good bit of energy, too, with floral top notes that lift the finish nicely. It’s a gorgeous second wine from Henri Lurton and Brane-Cantenac.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2035
Robert Parker 85
The 2020 Baron de Brane is a blend of 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 58% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. It weighs in with 14.2% alcohol and a pH of 3.71. Deep purple-black colored, it leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of crushed black and red currants, black raspberries and bay leaves, plus hints of lavender and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate is soft and refreshing with lively fruit and an herbal lift on the finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2030
