Tasting Notes
Vinous 91
The 2020 Gazin has a very composed and harmonious bouquet. The oak is very well integrated and there's plenty of fruit- blackberry and wild strawberry infused with truffle and iron. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry and a tight, linear style that's just missing a bit of complexity toward the finish. Will it give more with continued bottle age? This bottle does not show as well as the previous one I tasted at the end of 2022. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2045
Robert Parker 93
Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Gazin rolls effortlessly out of the glass with upfront scents of baked black plums, stewed black cherries and mulberries, plus hints of spice cake, chocolate box and cracked black pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate has a solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing savory.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2042
