Tasting Notes
Vinous NR
The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has an opulent, almost Nebbiolo-like bouquet that is missing the complexity of even many Gevrey Premier Crus. It is a little overripe. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins and black fruit. It is a little austere on the mid-palate, with a grippy and quite assertive finish. Where is the charm in this Charmes? It oxidizes in the glass and so was not rated by anyone in the group. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
